Bullseye Design Worx is unique because we have expert 3D product design credentials, and we also assess the business aspects. We don’t just design new products; we help our customer analyze the business aspects of product design, production, distribution, and sales to help ensure that the new product is successful.

Bullseye Design Worx’ product design process is a thoughtful, streamlined, seven-step process that’s available either as a full-service, start-to-finish process, or an ala carte product design process, in which you employ Bullseye Design Worx to help with a particular phase of the product design process.

Bullseye Design Worx’ Seven-Step Product Design Process

  1. Business goal setting
  2. Financial feasibility assessment
  3. Product design & development strategy
  4. Product design user research
  5. Product concept development & design + 3D Modeling
  6. Product prototyping
  7. Production & manufacturing

Product Design Process: Goal Setting for Product DesignBullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 1: Business Goal Setting

In this phase, Bullseye Design Worx helps clients identify the end goals they want to achieve, such as whether the goal is to design, produce, distribute, and sell the product directly, or develop and sell an idea to another company. For those choosing to develop and bring products to market themselves, Bullseye Design Worx helps assess important business factors including: the retail price, how many units need to be sold to break even, and then make a profit, seasonal product demand, design and production time constraints, and where and how the product needs to be manufactured.

Bullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 2: Financial Feasibility Assessment

Bullseye Design Worx helps clients determine if their funding is sufficient to both develop the new product and manufacture the new product. There is no sense in developing a new product that can’t be manufactured, either because there’s not enough capital for the manufacturing phase, or because the manufacturing process is too expensive.

Bullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 3: Product design & development strategy

In this phase, Bullseye Design Worx helps client build a feasible plan for developing the new product. We’ll research the competition, and help determine how the product will differentiate from its competitors. We’ll also develop the working timeline for how the product design process will be approached, with product design activities that are carefully sequenced and tied to an actual timeline.

Bullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 4: Product design user research

Product design user research is key to designing a successful new product. In this phase, Bullseye Design Worx uses customer surveys to investigate how people use, or will use, that type of new product, and find out the good, the bad, and the ugly…and more important, understand what users care about, what they want improved in that type of product. We find that clients sometimes want to skip this phase. But product design user research is critically important because it allows us to determine if there are any new features, functions, or design attributes that users want that will help catapult your new product to the forefront.

Bullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 5: Product concept development & design

In the product concept development & design phase, Bullseye Design Worx develops multiple product concepts that properly address the needs and wants of users, and solves issues uncovered in the user research phase. Bullseye will develop 3D renderings including 3D Modeling using CAD Design) of product concepts and, in many cases, builds actual mock-ups of the product concepts to test and refine the various product design concepts.

Bullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 6: Final Product Prototyping

Final product prototyping involves building models that represent the final, approved design of the new product for evaluation by the client, and by users. These final prototypes also are necessary for checking how various parts fit together, and for determining what assembly method will be used before starting development of the tooling needed to actually manufacture the new product.

Bullseye Design Worx Product Design Process Step 7: Production & Manufacturing

In addition to assessing & strategizing the business aspects, and actually concepting and designing new products, Bullseye Design Worx also helps identify and work with manufacturing vendors to product the new product. In this phase, Bullseye provides the necessary design files to have the product manufactured, and also evaluates and confirms the various parts or components that comprise the new products prior to assembly and actual manufacturing.
